HEY ALL.

today we had our first unit hike, planned by the CLs and supervised by the officers. We travelled like lost sheep along Bukit Chandu, following signs and directory maps, and eventually completed our hike successfully. Unexpected things cropped up but we still overcame it nevertheless. The weather was one of the main factors. It began pouring heavily halfway through our hike, which caused us to be partially/totally soaked. However, we still managed to look on the brighter side of it and had fun anyw. haha.

I guess this had caused some little bonding between junior and senior, officer and cadet because I for one have experienced that and for me, my aim for this event had been accomplished. :D

So SHSS NPCC, I encourage you to set an aim for every event we organise and fulfill that goal because it would probably mould you to be more successful in your own little way. (: Of course, set realistic goals and work hard towards them.

Photos would probably be uploaded on fb. We dont make empty promises alright.

On 21 May 2010, we celebrated our annual NPCC day. everyone (mainly sec2-3) were to report to school in their full uniform. the sec1s had to report in PT Kit because their uniform had not arrived yet. We did not want to touch the sec4s and 5s. (:

The sec 2s and 3s were to wear their uniform throughout the entire day and put on their best behaviour to keep up the reputation of st. hilda's NPCC. Many grumbled, but I guess things worked out in the end. :D

Then came our first ever swimming outing when the unit showed off their ultimate swimming skills.

Since the first day is for NCOs only, the sec 1s and 2s DO NOT need to come.
Doryy and Zhengliang will meet the sec 1s and 2s on 25th Nov, 9am, at tampines interchange small mac. [in case you don't know where the small mac is, it's the one closest to the bus lines(: ]

This year’s National Day Parade was held at the Marina Bay platform. The uniform groups involved are :

- NPCC

- NCDCC

- NCC

- BB

- GB

- Scouts

- Red Cross

- St. John’s

Every year, each unit will send one cadet for NDP. This year, I was sent to participate in the parade. We had two months to train for the event, once a week. The trainings were not very strict in the sense that we only marched out twice in the day. The food was great! We had KFC, Pizza Hut and Old Chang Kee, and our holding area was in Suntec’s convention hall, meaning – AIR CON!!! We learnt a new type of drill called umbrella drill, where we use an umbrella. The umbrella is used to make the word SINGAPORE during the presidential salute.

This year, NPCC had the honour to be the centre contingent, meaning that we had to work extra hard, especially the middle two rows which were marching in. Incidentally, the middle two rows were the shortest people after sizing, which were all the girls. Including me. We gave up our breaks to do drills, making sure our dressing was perfectly coordinated with each other and with the row at the opposite end of the platform. The parade sergeant major often came down to teach us personally, an act which we appreciated as not often do people like him come all the way down just to teach us.

At HTA, the uniform checks were extremely detailed and all uniforms had to be up to their standards. Simple things like the seam lines and the badge arrangements must be corrected, and boots must always be polished.

Although the training was physically exhausting at times, it was well worth it when we marched out onto the platform on National Day. Standing there in the middle of the platform and watching everyone there waving their flags – it was amazing. Before the parade, the Defence Minister of Singapore came down to congratulate us on performing, and we took a photo with him, too.

I met several people during the course of the trainings, CIs, and fellow cadets.

THE SINGAPORE YOUTH FESTIVAL OPENING CEREMONY was organized by the NCC(national cadet corp). All the uniform groups are involved in this parade. The parade is only being held once for every 2 years.Fortunately, NPCC and NCC were given the honour to march as the Guard Of Honour contigent in the parade. Only selected cadets are given the opportunity to march in the GOH contigent. From npcc,every unit has to send two cadetds to march in this parade. And in our unit,we had Gwenlyn tan fron sec 2j and Liyana from sec 3e to march in the parade.

We were chosen to march for the GOH contigent.We had around 1 month and a half to train for the actual day.It was an intense training but still we managed to have fun.Our time that we spent durin the trainings were very enjoyable.Learning rifle drills together in a contigent of more than 50 cadets,we learn from each others mistake. We did everything together,for example,resting,eating,changing,polishing boots,getting punished,doin drills and most of all , forming up the contigent as ONE.

HQ parades definately thought us alot.We manage to learn more drills and the changes in the drills.We hope that we could have the opportunity to share our rifle drills that we have learnt to our fellow unit mates.

Here is a quote from an FI that had ended his journey in NPCC and he told us what had kept him to achive such an achivement in his life in the police force:

"believe in yourself.If someone says you're not good enough,never be too arrogant to learn."

This is a parade that we would never forget.

The CIP Hours of the wheel Chair service- Zheng Liang

I have gone to do the servicing of the wheelchair i felt it was very fun. dismantling the wheel chair and cleaning it. i never knew tat a wheelchair actually needed so much screw.. and the brakes are to be adjust so frequently. thought cleaning the wheel chair is like a dirty job, but its toleratable.. the oil-ing of parts tat makes ur hand so greesy and picking the dust that are so much hidden under the wheels. but i do enjoy it overall. it is very slack though haha.
